| RIDICULOUSLY RUGBY |
If Wendell was working for a private firm he would have been fired or at least been demoted for being drunk at work and he was at work, because he was on tour on a mission to play and win matches. What happen to all the youngsters reading about this incident? Yes they think going on tour is a great booze-up and rugby comes second. Fining him $3500 is ridiculously for a player earning top professional wages and to suspend him for three matches is only a lovely rest in a very busy program. We must get tougher on players like this. Lets cancel their contracts. The full story Wallaby wing Wendell Sailor faces further scrutiny over a Cape Town nightclub incident when he appears before an Australian Rugby Union (ARU) disciplinary hearing on Tuesday. Sailor returned home in disgrace last week from the Waratahs' tour of South Africa after receiving a one-match ban and an undisclosed fine following the late-night incident outside a Cape Town nightclub. The high-profile Wallaby wing had a suspended ARU two-match ban hanging over him from another indiscretion last year when with the Australian team in the same city. This led to the ARU on Monday scheduling the Code of Conduct hearing into Sailor's latest indiscretion. Waratahs' contract could be cancelled The NSWRU and ARU said they felt the significance of the issue warranted further action, despite the Waratahs' own internal disciplinary hearing. The ARU hearing will be chaired by Senior Counsel Lindsay Foster. Also sitting on the tribunal are NSWRU board member Edwin Zemancheff and ARU chief operating officer Rob Clarke. The panel has the power to impose a fine, a suspension or terminate Sailor's contract with the Waratahs, for whom he has played just one Super 14 match since switching this year from the Reds. Sailor will be represented by Tony Dempsey, CEO of the Australian Rugby Players' Association. |
