Week 36
This week we look at a line-out mauling move, which splits the defenders in two . This move was done by the Blue Bulls in their Currie Cup match against the Sharks on 16-09-06 in Durban.
" All teams are mobilizing their defenses against the very effective line-out maul near the try-line and many of them are very effective by stopping or disrupting the maul. Here is now a knew variation of the line-out maul, which is not so easy to stop. " - Jan Oberholzer
Lets look at the new line-out mauling move
The hooker throws the ball into the the six-man line-out
NOTE: It will take about 30sec. for video file to load.
The jumper at the back catches the ball cleanly.

He immediately throws the ball to the jumper in the front.
He and his supporters start with the driving maul. Note their are only two defenders against the four maulers.
This is a great variation on the well known line-out maul, because it splits the defenders in two groups by re-directing the maul and the defenders must then re-group, which in most cases will be too late.
The other defenders rush to the driving maul, but are too late to stop the momentum of the maul.
They easily scores.
