The Set-out of the drill
Lets see how the Joberrugby Academy execute the drill.
Advantage of the drill:
A more complicated defensive drill that teaches
players to get into the defensive line and not to
stand around the ruck and mauls
Key coaching points
  • The players must use their communication
skills to communicate with each other.
  • Players must use their secondary vision to
keep the line straight in relation to the
    players next to them.

____________________________________________________________________________
Description of the drill:
1. The players stand at AB and at the signal of the
coach they run forward and huddle together as if
the are forming a maul at C. They wait a few
moments and then move out to form the defensive
line accross the grid.
2. They then repeat the drill at D and E and then
shoot forward to make an imaginary tackle at line
EF.
3.After completing the drill the players run around to
AB to repeat the drill.
