"This is a great modern rugby drill, because the players must  communicate and concentrate to execute this drill effectively.."-
Jan Oberholzer
    Equipment
    1) 1 Balls
    2) 6 Marker cones.
    Objective of the Drill:
To warm-up by using this drill with great
intensity in which the running lines timing are
    very important
    Key Coaching Points
  • Quick handling, while running at speed.
  • The players executing the switch must first run straight to
fix the defenders and then they must step off for the
    switch.
    Description of the Drill
    1) The first player runs to the ball, picks it up
and passes a torpedo pass from the ground
    to the third player.
    2) The third player then switches with the
    second player.
    3) The second player then drifts across and
give a short pass to the fourth player on the
    outside.
    4) The player puts the ball down at the
marker cone for the next group to continue
    the drill.

    Note:
This is one of the new generation modern rugby drills that keep
    the players thinking.
The three passes - the torpedo pass, the switch pass and the
unders pass - that must be executed in a small grid, makes this
    a great drill.
A new generation warm-up and skills development drills, which we call "The extended switch pass drill", in which players
must use their passing skills to execute the switch pass.
