Rolling mauls: This week we look at a
new method of
forming the rolling
maul.

" There is a new way to form the rolling maul,
which get the ripper with the ball to the back of
the maul, where he is can play further if the maul
ends."   -
Jan Oberholzer
Pictures of the forming of the Maul
The blocker bind over
the ball carrier to secure
the ball
The ripper receives the
ball
The secondary blockers
bind over the ripper, but
they must not bind on to
the ripper.
The rolling maul moves
forward, while the ripper
move to the back of the
maul.
The ripper with the ball
can play further if the
maul collapses or ends.

It is important to note that the success of this new forming of
the maul is that the ball carrier must be at the back of the
maul.
