This week we look how the Australian team scored
a great try against Wales
by each player with the
ball first "fixing" a defender before passing. This
match was in Brisbane on 2-06-07.
" All the coaches that coach their backlines to drift across the field, must
look at this example to see how straight running stop drifting defenders
and make scoring much easier."

Jan Oberholzer
Lets look closely at players "fixing" defenders (straight running alignment and
drawing of the opponent), before passing

Creating space on the outside
Each player with the ball first "fix" a
defender i.e. getting the attention of
the defender and "stopping" him by
running straight at him, before passing.
"Stopping" mean the defender must
prepare for the tackle and his attention
is just on the player with the ball and
that is creating space on the outside.
