The incorrect basic skill or bad skills for
catching a ball in the air under great pressure
    Correct skills:
  • Eyes on the ball
  • Hands stretch out to the ball
  • Elbows together to stop the
    ball from falling through.
    Bad skill:
  • Elbows open up to leave a
    gap for the ball to fall through
  • The ball falls through the gap
    How to rectify the bad skills:
    Teach the player to keep his elbows
    closely together, while jumping for the
    ball.
The correct basic skill for catching a ball in the
air under great pressure

The problem of having a bad skill in catching
a ball in the air is that the opponents will
start kicking high kicks on the player,
because they know there is a big chance
that the player will miss the ball again under
pressure
.
