This week we look at the basic technique of the chip kick.
We teach coaches the basic skills of how their players must
effectively kick this kind of kick to beat modern defenses.
" This is a neglected skill that is suddenly high fashion again. With
drifting and rushing defenders it is a great kick to put the ball
behind the defenders. "

The basic technique of the Chip Kick
We look at the execution of the Chip Kick.
The grip on the ball for the
chip kick.
 (The ball can lean
forwards or backwards - it make no
difference to the kick.)
The player prepares for the chip kick.
Look at his grip on the ball and how
this player's choice is for the ball to
lean forward.
His leg swings through with his toe
pointed upwards to put some toll on
the ball.
He lets the ball go. Look how the ball
is pointing slightly forward.
Video Clip of the basic skill
The  ball is immediately on a high
flight to clear the defenders.

The player kicks the ball with his toe
    pointing upwards, which enables him
to get a higher flight on the ball
    JOBERTIP
