This week we look at a handling alignment drill, called "The square alignment passing drill". A great drill in which  players can
practice their alignment in passing movements.
"This drill was designed to teach players how to quickly alignment themselves to receive a pass, which is very important in any
passing movement. "

We look at "The square alignment passing drill"
Running and passing lines of the Drill
Objective:
To develop correct alignment, depth, speed
and angles
Exercise / Drill explanation:
1. On the coach's call the ball is passed along the
backline, who is aligned on side AB. The players
must complete the passing before they reach line
AB of the grid and the final ball carrier places the
ball on B.
2. The players must then re-align from B on side
BC and they repeat the passing drill attacking line
BC.
3. Once this has been completed, the ball carrier
puts the ball down on C, the players re-align on
CD and they can continue the drill.
Video Clips of the drill
Equipment:
1)  A ball for each group.
2)  4 Marker cones to form the grid
Key coaching point
• Players should run straight to commit the opposition and create
space on the outside.
• Players should be aligned deep enough to pass the ball through
the hands and must maintain appropriate depth throughout the drill.
