A contact skills drill, called the  "Get up and clean-out drill". This is a drill in which players can exercise their reaction time to the
clean-out.
" With the new interpretations on the tackle ball the attacking team needs cleaners to secure the ball and this drill teach them to
get up and do the clean-out i.e. the reaction time to the clean-out"

The setting out of the
drill
Objective:
To teach players how to do the clean-out
effectively.
Key coaching point
  • Coaches must see to it that the players who do the clean-
    out come in with a low body position and use both arms
    in the clean-out
Equipment:
1) 1 Ball per drill.
The setting out and execution of the drill.
Exercise / Drill explanation:
1.  All the players lie down, 1meter apart, with the player in the
center with the ball.
2. The player with the ball first touches the clean-out player on
his right  with the ball to trigger the play and then he puts the ball
down on his left hand side.
3. The player on the left gets up and tries to get his hands on the
ball, while the player on the right tries to clean him of the ball.
