Modern Scrums - We analize a scrum, between Munster and Biarritz to see what techniques they use to get a great right shoulder.
" To attack from a scrum a team needs a right shoulder or at least a square scrum. In one of the previous weeks we show you the 10 degrees hit to the inside and in this scrum you can see that it is working. " - Jan Oberholzer

The hit with the red tight head prop hitting first.
Lets look at other interesting aspects of the scrum.

In most teams the hooker gives a signal with his outside hand to the scrum-half that he is ready, but here the scrum-half tap the hooker's outside hand with the ball to signal to him that he is ready to put in the ball. With this technique the hooker can more concentrate on the task ahead.
Here we can see that all the pressure of the Biarritz team (white) is on the opposition tight head prop to try and cancel the right shoulder.
Practice this right shoulder technique with your scrum and you can only have great success.
