Line-outs -  We look at a line-out
move.
"The Hooker Driving Round the
Back",
that did not work, because the ball
was thrown at the wrong position. This
was in the Super 14 match Reds against
the Cheetahs on 21-04-07.
"  This is a move that can only work if the ball is thrown at
the back of the line-out, to tie down the defenders. It is
unbelievable that the experienced coach of the Reds,
Eddie Jones, can allow such an abortion of a move."
-
Jan Oberholzer
Lets look at the wrong execution of the line-out move.
The whole essence of the move is to get over the
advantage line at the back of the line-out, but in this
moved the hooker is driving into the waiting defenders
at the back of the line-out
Note:
The most undefended channel on the field is the first channel at the back
of the line-out and if the throw is deep the hooker can easily get over the
advantage line at the back of the line-out.
