Question
    David,

When your players come in for the ruck, imagine that they are trying ruck beyond the breakdown and that
they need to go through it.  Their drive do not stop at contact.  They must continue their efforts through the
opposition to a point about a meter behind the breakdown.  Often when contact is made, players stop their
    forward momentum.

When coming into rucks a player must maintain good body position.  Come in low, close enough to touch
the ground, and come up.  Tense the shoulders and neck, and keep the head up. Try and bind immediately
with the opposition and your teammates.  When pushing, keep the buttocks lower then the shoulder, and
keep the spine in a straight line from head to rear (spine in line).

Two good drills from our Subscription Library to practice your rucking are:
     1)   The defensive rucking drill
     2)   The horseshoe contact drill

    Greetings,
    Coach Jan.
